C's Story
Chandra, co-owner of Cuties Café, was born and raised in Canada and has spent much of her life traveling, especially through Eastern Canada.
She used to have no interest in food when she was younger, as she lived with her single mom who didn’t really have time to cook and didn’t have a lot of passion for it.
Since she was young, Chandra’s love for animals has always been a driving force in her life. She became an animal activist at a young age, joining PETA and adopting a vegetarian lifestyle on and off since she was 11.
In her teens, Chandra began learning to cook for herself, driven primarily by dietary restrictions as well as her desire to avoid meat.
Over the years, she honed her culinary skills, working alongside her father—a skilled cook in his own right—and gaining valuable experience in the food industry.
She soon discovered a deep passion for cooking, particularly for creating nourishing meals that everyone, including those with dietary restrictions, could enjoy.
Chandra was inspired to build her own business by her entrepreneurial family. Her grandmother, who immigrated to Canada at 25, supported herself by running cafés, soup shops, and a bed & breakfast.
Chandra has always been inspired by entrepreneurs and it finally clicked after a few years working in a corporate role that her true passion was to work for herself and and build a business she loved and believed in.
T's Story
Trisha, co-owner of Cuties Café, hails from the small town of Nagcarlan in the Philippines. Raised in an entrepreneurial environment, she grew up watching her parents successfully run a candy and snack business, a legacy passed down from her grandparents.
Her mom and sister now operate "Ninay’s Kitchenette" in Toronto, and Trisha has been an integral part of the family businesses both in the Philippines and Canada over the years.
Food has always been central to Trisha’s life, especially within her family. From a young age, she was the designated sous chef for her Lola (grandmother) and mom during family events.
The cherished recipes and cooking tips Trisha brings to Cuties Café are inspired by her family’s home cooking traditions. For her, food is more than just a meal—it’s a way her family expresses love, as her parents always greet her with, “Hi Trisha, kumain ka na ba?” (Have you eaten yet?).
Trisha has always had a deep love for food, spending her free time watching Food Network shows and food documentaries. She’s long dreamed of owning a cozy café that blends her Filipino heritage with creative, fun dishes, offering a space to connect with like-minded individuals.
At their pop-up events, Trisha and Chandra strive to recreate that warm, welcoming environment, with plans to open a storefront that embodies those cozy vibes in the future.
